* The drive letter assigned to a mobile HDD or pendrive may be different depending on which PC it becomes attached to. This may disturb the functionality of programs being installed on and/or working with the files of the mobile storage device. MossWinn 3.0i xp - being installed on such a device - is able to detect such a situtation, and will correct the file entries that refer to files inside the MossWinn directory. At the same time, file references pointing outside of the host directory of mosswinn.exe will remain invalid. A more sophisticated approach was developed and included in the MossWinn 4.0 series, which makes the program able to follow file references (irrespective of whether they are referring to files inside or outside its host directory) even if those were rendered invalid by a changed drive letter. (Consequently, MossWinn 4.0 does not need to spend time correcting its file references.) This results in seamless operation even if MossWinn is installed on a mobile HDD that is expected to work together with numerous different host PCs. |
